How to Make a Liquify Text Effect in Illustrator

Illustrator Text Effects

Creating a liquify text effect in Illustrator is a great way to add a playful and dynamic touch to your designs. This effect works beautifully in creative projects like posters, social media graphics, event invitations, and artistic business cards. Its fluid and organic look is ideal for designs that need to stand out or convey a sense of movement and creativity. Today, I’ll show you how to create this eye-catching effect in just a few minutes, without needing advanced Illustrator skills, and just with the Warp Tool and a few simple adjustments.

Step 1

Open Illustrator and make a new file at any size you want. In this case, I will make mine at 1800 x 1200 px.

Step 2

Select the Type Tool (T) and type your text using any font you wish. Here I will be using "Magnificent Serif" at 300 pt.

Step 3

Go to Type > Create Outlines.

Step 4

Select the Warp Tool (Shift+R).

Step 5

Double click on the Warp Tool to open the Warp Tool Options window.

Step 6

Set the Global Brush Dimensions cccording to your text size, in this case, a 50 px brush will work just fine.

Step 7

Set the Intensity to 100% to liquify your text as much as possible.

Step 8

Under Warp Options, set the Detail to 2, the Simplify to about 60/65 and click OK.

Step 9

Now simply click and drag over your text to form the shape that you are looking for as far as you want to create the effect.
