Gold Glitter Background in Photoshop

Sparkling gold glitter texture is the kicky cousin of elegance — stylish and tasteful, but with a sense of humor about it. ​If someday you need to make a background for a cosmetics company, a make-up blog or even wedding invitations, then this is the texture for you. You can get a ton of this kind of texture online, but if you need a specific color or a certain gold tone to match the other design elements, you'll need to know how to make it yourself. Today, you'll learn an easy method to make a Gold (or any other color) Glitter Background in Photoshop using nothing more than the default tools and filters.​

Step 1

Open Photoshop and make a new file at any size you want but with the Background Color set to White. In this case i will make mine at 1800 x 1200 px.

Step 2

Unlock the Background layer by clicking on the padlock icon in the Layers Panel.

Step 3

Go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise. Apply the following settings and click OK.

Step 4

Go to Filter > Pixelate > Crystallize. Apply the following settings and click OK.

Step 5

Press "Ctrl+J" on your keyboard to duplicate the Background layer.

Step 6

Go to Edit > Transform > Rotate 180º.

Step 7

Set the blending mode of the duplicated layer to Multiply.

Step 8

Again, press "Ctrl+J" on your keyboard to duplicate the current layer.

Step 9

Go to Edit > Transform > Rotate 180º.

Step 10

Go to Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color. Name this layer as "Glitter Color", set the Mode to "Color Burn" and click OK.

Step 11

To finish our Glitter Background, in the Color Picker window set the color to #f3de51 and click OK.

Step 12

If you want to change the glitter color, simply double click on the "Glitter Color" layer thumbnail, pick any color you want in the Color Picker window and click OK.
