This set contains 10 high-resolution transparent smoke PNG's and brushes for Photoshop. Each brush measures a little over 2000px, so these should be large enough for just about any project that needs a smokey effect.

Make sure to check out the companion set of smoke textures, and visit the blog for a tutorial on how we created these.

Update March 20, 2018

We have updated this set to include transparent .png versions of all 10 smoke brushes. This means that non-Photoshop users can now use this resource in other applications. The PNG files are also preferable if you like to drag and drop your brushes to place them instead of using the brush tool in Photoshop.

Using the Brushes:

  1. Save the resource file and extract the ABR file to a directory you can remember
  2. Open an existing Photoshop file or create a new document
  3. Find the brush palette, or open it by going to Window >> Brushes
  4. In the upper right of the brush palette there is a small down arrow next to a set of lines, this is the extended menu.
  5. Click on the extended menu and find the option to “Load Brushesâ€
  6. Find the extracted ABR file and click okay. This should populate the brush palette with your new styles.
  7. Create a new layer, and select the brush tool, and pick one of the new brushes.
  8. Start having fun :-)
