How Do You Learn Design?

Design, specifically graphic design or web design, is an incredible field. The possibilities are endless in terms of what your job situation looks like: whether you're employed by a design agency, or if you're part of a small design team for a company, or if you're a freelancer, etc. However, the number of possibilities for learning how to be a designer are also plentiful. But this still begs the question: How do you keep learning?

But let's put basic education aside. The important thing (for all fields, really,) is that you continue to educate yourself by teaching yourself new software, techniques, etc.

How do you continue to learn design?

So what do you do to continue to learn? Do you:

• Routinely follow tutorials?
• Take formal continued training (like get a Masters)?
• Take self-guided courses (like Treehouse)?
• Learn from coworkers and peers?
• Leap into new software?
• …or do you continue doing what you're doing in the way you've learned it and hope for the best?
