Wedding season is just starting to gear up. In my late twenties, I see more and more friends getting married as the normal progression of a life timeline would suggest. What I'm surprised to see is how many more people are branding or socializing their weddings, be it with websites, hashtags, or blogs.
Being a blogger myself, I am inspired and excited to see other people jumping on board to brand their weddings (and those not just in the marketing, blogging, or design world).
Designs are created to accommodate the content and to solve problems. All designs exist to communicate information, whether it's to showcase the latest product or to help you get from point A to point B on a map. Good design helps us to live, work and play more efficiently.
Of course, companies and people need redesigns as they grow internally and new designs also come into play when the world around us grows technologically and we need to grow with it.
When we think about needing new designs, a few things come into play. The other place we may need new designs is to celebrate a new beginning. New company, new product, or a new life.
Weddings unite two people in love. It's no surprise that weddings and wedding-centric things are becoming more and more in demand of better designs. Everyone wants their wedding to be memorable and to showcase the love between the two parties involved.
Hence, branding and marketing weddings is exploding. Here are the best wedding themed designs I've come across to date, and I'm sure this niche of design will continue to grow!
Illustrator and handletterer Jessica Hische and her husband Russ share pieces of their eventful life-stories and then their journeys together in their beautiful Parallax website, JessandRuss.us. The site is stocked full of beautiful designs and illustrations by themselves and their talented friends. Even though their wedding was two years ago at this point, their wedding site stands as one of the most impressive and well thought out wedding websites thus far.
While every couple may not want to pay top dollar for a responsive wedding website, some of the most adorable and creative ideas come through with just that. Scroll down Pati and Felipe's website and you see two animated figures come in from the sides. They notice each other, he proposes, they hang out and take pictures in Paris, and then they smooch at the end. I have to stop myself from scrolling and reversing through these cute parallax sites like a DJ.
These days, the pressure is on to have really killer wedding invitations. Austin Petito designed his own wedding's invitation package, which included intricate details all neatly wrapped in a similarly branded box. The whole invitation suite included a logo, beautiful color scheme, and branded motifs and accessories.
Our friends Tyler and Antoinette of At Media connected their wedding attendees through multiple social media channels by using the #ATWED hashtag. Media included Vimeo videos, tweets, Instagram photos, Pinterest pins, and more. In fact, the Philadelphia Inquirer featured Tyler and Antoinette's branded wedding in the Social Media section. A year later, their wedding was featured on Brides.com because it made such an impact.
It's an amazing thing be able to gather photos and other media from your wedding with a hashtag. Tyler and Antoinette have a beautiful collection of memories curated by their closest friends and family.
What are some of the best wedding-centric sites or designs you've come across?
